Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Notes

Pure Paso Robles, this rich yet smooth Cabernet Sauvignon is loaded with elegant aromas of blackberry, blueberry, pepper and cassis which lead to flavors of dark red fruits with hints of cedar spice, cocoa powder and caramelized oak. These persistent flavors create a long lingering finish. While very accessible now, this wine will continue to evolve nicely for years to come.

Vintage Factors

The 2013 harvest looks like it’s going to be a classic vintage in Paso Robles. The cool spring set-up a crop lighter than normal by about 20%. The growing season went smoothly, without any long heat spikes or cool stretches. Sugar accumulation came up early and may have possibly convinced some winemakers to pick too early with insufficient tannin ripeness. Those that were able to hold off for maturity should be rewarded with some outstanding wines with great texture and weight to balance alcohols. The yields being overall down for many vintners, most wines exhibit deep color, complex tannin with fully mature flavors.
